OUR PRODUCTION

OUR PRODUCTION

PRODUCTION IS AT THE HEART OF OUR BUSINESS

Production has always been at the heart of our business. In the beginning, we grew fruits and vegetables on 1.5 hectares of land. This has now grown to cover 4,000 hectares of outdoor vegetables, 600 hectares of which are organically farmed. Our cultivation areas are located in Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Hesse in Germany, and in Spain.

WE WORK
WITH NATURE

We mainly grow our vegetables outdoors, exclusively in natural soil and using energy from the sun. Our vegetables grow in Germany in the summer months and in Spain in the winter. After all, growing crops in Germany in the winter would only be possible using hydroponics, artificial light and a great deal of energy. We opted for the natural method and go where the sun shines, providing its vital light and warmth, and where the plant grows in natural soil. We deliver healthy, natural vegetables to consumers in both summer and winter.

ORGANIC OR CONVENTIONAL?
BOTH ARE GOOD!

OUR ORGANIC CULTIVATION

We have been growing organic vegetables since 1998. In addition to eco-friendly operations which keep the soil healthy, protect the climate and promote biodiversity, natural conditions and expansive areas of land with well-balanced soils are important for the organic cultivation of vegetables in particular. In organic cultivation, the options for plant protection and fertilisation are limited to organic products, so wide crop rotations and regular changes in land are essential to keep the soil healthy and thus be able to harvest high-quality organic vegetables.

OUR CONVENTIONAL, CONTROLLED INTEGRATED CULTIVATION

We grow our conventional vegetables in accordance with the guidelines of controlled integrated cultivation. This form of cultivation is an environmentally friendly, conventional cultivation method in which many measures from organic cultivation are integrated, such as the use of beneficial organisms and the covering of fields with crop protection nets against pests.
Plant nutrition and plant protection in particular are strictly guided by the motto: “As much as necessary, as little as possible.”

MODERN TECHNOLOGY FOR SUSTAINABILITY

Modern technology helps to conserve resources in both conventional and organic cultivation. Precision farming is a decisive basis for responsible action – both in conventional and organic cultivation.

CONSERVING RESOURCES & EFFICIENCY

We use our 12-metre bed system at all our locations. It may seem paradoxical at first glance, but our 12-meter cultivation width is more sustainable and efficient than the standard 1.5-meter bed system. Instead of 8 passes over 12 metres, only one is needed. The lower number of tracks reduces the area affected by soil erosion and ground pressure, significantly cuts CO2 emissions and minimises the amount of fertilizer and water required.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY WEED CONTROL WITH INNOVATIVE PRECISION

Our camera-controlled hoe enables us to deal with weeds in an environmentally friendly manner that also saves on manpower. The hoe can distinguish the weeds from the vegetable plants and reliably hacks them away between the plants. This significantly reduces our need for crop protection products.

GENTLE WEED PREVENTION

The outdoor steaming system facilitates the cultivation of drilled crops by removing weed seeds from the land in an ecologically friendly way. This is particularly valuable for our organic cultivation.

NATURAL BRANDING

The laser is an environmentally friendly alternative to the label, clearly marking our organic pumpkins, for example, without any loss of quality.

FRESHLY HARVESTED FOR YOU

The field is our warehouse, because nowhere else does a plant stay fresher than in the field. We harvest our crisp and fresh vegetables by hand and just-in-time. They are packed directly in the field, labelled, placed in boxes and delivered. This is how our vegetables reach you freshly harvested.
